Project Information

Initiative Type:ARDN-Led Project
Status:Completed
Start Date:September 4, 2012 - April 11, 2013
Institution:Community Partner(s)
Subject(s):Health & Wellness, Seniors

Description

ARDN and its partners are each using our unique skills to create a three phase research project to increase access to supports and services for Alberta’s rural deaf community and facilitate enhanced communication among rural deaf Albertans.

Phase one looked at what people in other jurisdictions and other countries are doing about this kind of problem and then identifying a number of options that would be possible solutions in Alberta. Phase two will include a pilot project where the team will take the options they identified and interview a diverse sample of rural deaf Albertans to learn what they think would be the best technology. Phase three will take the best technologies identified and implement them.
