Alberta Main Street

Part of Culture and Community Spirit, the Alberta Main Street Program provides a membership network, funding and expertise to municipalities to help restore historic integrity and architectural character to traditional main streets across Alberta. Under a new paradigm, AMSP aims to establish a strong network of accredited Alberta Main Street communities, committed to conserving their historic places.


Alberta Official Statistics

Alberta Official Statistics are publicly available key facts that provide a comprehensive perspective of changes over time and geographical areas for Alberta. The 2011 suite comprise more than 100 fact sheets providing an Alberta perspective on population, the labour force, educational levels, water quality, environment and much more.


Alberta School of Business Centres

This page has links to all of the different centres that offer services to the community and is part of the University of Alberta.


Civic Engagement for Immigrant Women

In partnership with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association produced this guide to civic engagement, covering volunteering, elections and voting, and having a public voice. Municipalities could use this guide as a template for a handbook for newcomers on how to vote in municipal elections or how to get involved in your community.


Community Information Database

The Community Information Database (CID) is a free internet-based resource developed to provide communities, researchers, and governments with access to consistent and reliable socio-economic and demographic data and information for all communities across Canada.


Enterprising Non-Profits (enp)

Enp is a collaborative program that provides grants and technical assistance to non-profit organizations to support the development or growth of their social enterprises (i.e., revenue generating businesses). Enp holds "Building Your Social Enterprise" workshops around the province every spring and fall for non-profit organizations wanting to learn more about social enterprise and how to gain access to enp grants for business planning projects. The program also offers a wide range of resources for social enterprises on this website, including free downloadable copies of the Canadian Social Enterprise Guide


Matching Talent with Innovation - Productivity Alberta

Productivity Alberta and the University of Alberta School of Business Technology Commercialization Centre have teamed up to provide your company with access to existing student talent and research centres.  We will provide you with a project coordinator that will seek out the expertise and solutions you need to solve your innovation issues.

Rural Secretariat (RS)

RS aims to improve the quality of life in rural communities so these regions can compete in the global economy. The Secretariat also ensures that federal policies and programs respond to the needs of these communities.


Seven Secrets to Coping with Change in Small Towns

Produced by the Heartland Centre for Leadership Development, these "Seven Secrets" are drawn from the experience of several years of immersion into the challenges facing small towns and rural communities as they struggle to overcome the uncertainties caused by a fickle world economy and the continuing depopulation of America’s countryside.


Small Business, Big Impact – Alberta Small Business Profile 2011

The publication offers consolidated facts and statistics about small business in the province such as small business counts and growth patterns.  It focuses on a number of key industries that drive Alberta’s economy and examines the role small businesses play in these industries.  By celebrating real-life small businesses, the profile also puts a face on the entrepreneurial men and women across this province who dream, invest and work to build a strong Alberta.

Star of the North is an attractive and affordable alternative to pricey hotels, whether it is for regular meetings, AGMs, staff development seminars or longer staff/group conferences. It is located in St. Albert.
