Call for Students - Learning Chronic Disease through the Arts
Do you have an interest in showcasing your artwork? Are you interested in learning about the health care field? If you are also interested in a free lunch, please keep reading!
Murtaza Amirali, a medical student with the University of Calgary and his colleague, Elizabeth Isenor, are working on an exciting project entitled ’Learning Chronic Disease through the Arts’
The aim of their project is to promote expression of students’ talents in art while also broadening their awareness of health care careers. Students will be paired with a medical student, who will facilitate a medical and social interview with a patient with a chronic disease (target date of February 18, 2012). The student will then create a piece of artwork (i.e. writing, painting, play) that reflects what he or she learned about the chronic disease and its impact on the patient. The project will culminate in an exhibit of the artwork bringing together participating students, patients, and mentors (target date of March).

Opportunity Notice: Research Consultant
Bow Valley College is leading an initiative that is focused on the work of Alberta’s Comprehensive Community Institutions (CCIs) and the challenges they face in regards to rural education needs assessments. The project will determine what would be required to develop a needs assessment tool and process, strongly supported by technology that can be used province-wide by multiple organizations to determine learning needs of individuals, business and communities, thereby providing a tool that solves some of the challenges facing the CCIs. It will be made available to the entire post-secondary system in Alberta. To meet the provincial mandate to address learner needs across this aims to define and close learner gaps. Partners include NorQuest College, Lethbridge College, Red Deer College, and Olds College.
Additional related contract work arising from this Project Invitation may be awarded to the successful Vendor without a further competitive process. Any subsequent award of a related contract is subject to work requirements, funding availability, suitability of the Vendor when the subsequent related contract is being considered, and AET’s prior approval.
