Marderé Birkill Appointed Vice President Academic at Portage College

Dr. Trent Keough, President and CEO of Portage College announced this week that Marderé Birkill has become the Vice President Academic at Portage College.

Ms. Birkill started her career at Portage in 2005 as the Manager of Institutional Analysis and Program Development and became the Director of Teaching and Learning in 2010.  During her time at the college, she has made significant contributions to the college leadership including designing and embedding a new academic governance structure and process by leveraging strong change management principles, extensive consultation and communication.

In her recent role as the interim Vice President Academic, Ms. Birkill has developed strong academic quality assurance and academic support systems. In the past year, she pulled together a solid, cohesive academic leadership team.

Ms. Birkill comes from a consulting and teaching background. Prior to coming to Portage, she spent several years teaching business science as well as consulting with various industries on strategic planning and facilitation, development of strategic business plans, organizational performance measurement systems, streamling processes and improving strategic execution.
Ms. Birkill lives with her family in Lac La Biche.
