Portage College and Northern Lakes College Announce Partnership to Offer Business Administration Diploma

Portage College and Northern Lakes College are partnering to offer specialized streams of the business administration diploma program.

The partnership enhances the ability of each institution to offer the broader streams to their respective communities. Students from both institutions service region benefit from the ability to take one of three streams, human resource management, accounting or management. The accounting stream will be delivered by Portage College and the human resource management stream will be delivered by Northern Lakes College. The management stream will be delivered jointly. Regardless of where the students are located, they can register in any of the specializations.

Students have the opportunity to take the program full time or part time, depending upon their unique needs. The live, online delivery allows students to interact with an instructor. Both institutions have synchronized their first year program to allow for ease of transfer from one college to the other, should a student choose to do so.

Northern Alberta has seen an increased demand for employees that have tangible skills in areas of human resource management, accounting and management. The labour force demands are high and the need to hire qualified individuals to maintain structure and intentional growth is critical for companies.

“The partnership with Northern Lakes College provides business students with access to specialized training across northern Alberta. These students now benefit from this opportunity, coupled with the job opportunities available because of the local demand for business professionals,” said Guy Gervais, Dean of Business, Arts and Humanities at Portage College.

“Northern Lakes College and Portage College have a long history of successful collaborations. This is a testament to the drive of both institutions to deliver quality programs that meet the training needs of our northern communities,” stated Glenn Mitchell, Dean, Learner Services at Northern Lakes College.

Portage College has been serving the region for over 40 years and is proud to be the first choice for learners in northeast Alberta. Portage boasts ten campus locations, which are strategically located throughout the region.
Northern Lakes College has campuses in over 25 communities across northern Alberta.
