Olds College Welcomes MacEwan Students and Makes Curriculum Changes

Bookmark and Share

Starting this September, students of the 2011-12 academic year will benefit from a number of changes to the curriculum at Olds College.

First year students registered in MacEwan’s Bachelor of Science degree have the option of taking their first year courses at the Olds College campus in Olds, Alberta (45 minutes north of Calgary). Students will technically be registered as MacEwan students, will be taking MacEwan courses, and will receive the same education and curriculum as students at MacEwan’s City Centre campus in downtown Edmonton.

“After one year of study in Olds, students will then continue studies at the MacEwan campus in Edmonton,” said Jeff Suderman, Olds College’s Director, Student Recruitment & Admissions. “Taking the first year at Olds helps make the transition to university smoother for some students and provides local students with a convenient option.”

The Olds College calendar will also see changes in the start dates of both the online Fashion Marketing and Land Administration programs.  Instead of beginning in February, the programs will start in line with the regular curriculum.

Additionally, two new programs are currently in development. Students will soon be able to enrol in the Veterinary Technical Assistance program and the online Veterinary Hospital Manager program.

In July, Olds College will begin offering the Western Recreational Rider certificate.
