Small Business, Big Impact – Alberta Small Business Profile 2011

Bookmark and Share

Small businesses in Alberta are the heart and soul of Alberta’s entrepreneurial spirit.  From the independent construction contractor, to the family-run restaurant, to the software developer, to the growing manufacturer with dozens of employees – our province’s small businesses can be found in virtually every sector.  They employ countless Albertans and are the economic engines in our communities.
And those small businesses have a big impact on the Alberta economy.  Produced by Alberta Treasury Board and Enterprise (formerly Alberta Finance and Enterprise), Small Business, Big Impact – Alberta Small Business Profile 2011 is the first of its kind in Alberta.
The publication offers consolidated facts and statistics about small business in the province such as small business counts and growth patterns.  It focuses on a number of key industries that drive Alberta’s economy and examines the role small businesses play in these industries.  By celebrating real-life small businesses, the profile also puts a face on the entrepreneurial men and women across this province who dream, invest and work to build a strong Alberta.
The Government of Alberta recognizes that supporting entrepreneurship is a critical part of maintaining and growing the economy and is committed to providing current and relevant information for business leaders, policy makers, entrepreneurs, small business service providers and all Albertans.
