RDC Signs Transfer Agreement for Music Diploma Program with University of Alberta -- Augustana Campus

Bookmark and Share

RDC has signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Alberta – Augustana Campus to establish a Music transfer agreement between the two institutions.

“This agreement is great news for students,” says Dr. Torben Andersen, Dean of Arts at RDC. “RDC already has similar agreements in place for the Music Diploma with the University of Lethbridge and Canadian University College. Through it we are adding to the suite of advanced education opportunities we can present to students.”
Music Diploma graduates who have majored in classical piano, organ, classical voice, classical guitar or an orchestral instrument will be accepted into the third year of the Bachelor of Music program upon successful completion of an audition with the Augustana Music Department, with the provision of meeting the University of Alberta’s general transfer requirements.

Serious discussion involving the actual wording of a formal two-year block transfer began in 2010, while the Memorandum was officially signed in January 2012.

“We had several of our Music Diploma grads go on to Augustana to complete a four-year music degree in Camrose,” says RDC Performing Arts Chair Dr. Dale Wheeler, describing how the conversation to collaborate with Augustana was initiated. “The faculty at Augustana were impressed with the quality of RDC students. Student excellence was the starting point in an ongoing relationship that is strengthened through this agreement.”

The transfer agreement is in effect immediately and will benefit the current RDC Music graduating class.
