Can a voluntary survey replace the data that has always been collected by the mandatory census?

On June 26, 2010, Statistics Canada announced that the usual mandatory long-form questionnaire will now be collected as part of a new voluntary National Household Survey (NHS). The change was made to limit the seemed intrusion of privacy from the mandatory section of the census.

Will this survey be a valid representation of our households? Is it less intrusive? What do you think?

Add your voice to the debate by clicking on the link below to fill out a quick and simple survey that will be submitted to Tony Clement before a decision is set in stone.  The deadline is July 16, 2010.

Make sure your opinion is heard.
