Can a voluntary survey replace the data that has always been collected by the mandatory census?
On June 26, 2010, Statistics Canada announced that the usual mandatory long-form questionnaire will now be collected as part of a new voluntary National Household Survey (NHS). The change was made to limit the seemed intrusion of privacy from the mandatory section of the census.
Will this survey be a valid representation of our households? Is it less intrusive? What do you think?
